Yoga For JuiJitsu

Our Work

Make Afrika a Better Place is a non-profit organisation and sustainable community dedicated to holistic development and positive transformation across the continent. Our work centres around empowering young people through diverse educational activities like sports & wellness, sustainable agriculture and agribusiness. Committed to addressing food security, we collaborate with corporate partners to implement innovative off-grid food solutions. Additionally, we integrate practices like meditation and self-defense, fostering holistic well-being. Through these activities, projects and collaborations, our mission is to create a resilient, empowered Afrika, contributing to lasting positive change for individuals and communities.

Yoga for Jiu-Jitsu

This is a health & wellness programme that incorporates the study and practice of Yoga for meditation with Jiu-Jitsu for Self-Defence.

The  benefits of Yoga range from improved flexibility, balance and increased cardiovascular health by lowering blood pressure and improve heart health.Yoga also reduces stress and anxiety, enhances cognitive function and increases self-awareness.

Jiu-Jitsu benefits include weight loss, enhanced agility, improved strength & endurance, discilpine & focus, stress relief and improved problem solving.

Entering into the 3rd year of engagement, the young people in our community, partnering schools and stakeholders are seeing the positive effects. Below is a pic from our last event called Afro Arts Expo which featured Yoga, Jiu-Jitsu and Capoeria instructors from the UK and it was great success and the video can be viewed in our gallery.

H.I.M. Institute
Intro to Regenerative Farming

This small educational programme is a tribute to His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie 1st and it's based in our sustainable community, focusing primarily on youth entrepreneurship around agribusriness studies. The institute will also offer courses in organic agriculture, food processing, business administration, permaculture principles, renewable energy and social enterprise.

Our first lntro to Regenerative Farming classes were held in September 2024, with students from our partners at Becky's Foundation at Senya Beraku. The topics were based around composting, soil health, organic cultivation using theoretical and practical techniques. The class pic is below at Cristian Atsu School were they planted their own seedlings in the garden planted by their own hands; the video of this class series can also be found in our gallery.

''The key for the betterment and completeness of modern living is education. But, ' Man cannot live by bread alone '. Man, after all, is also composed of intellect and soul. Therefore, education in general, and higher education in particular, must aim to provide, beyond the physical, food for the intellect and soul''.

Yoga for Pickleball

We will be hosting our very 1st Pickleball Seminar on our brand new court at our facility in Bonsuoku, Ghana, through December and January 2025/26. Our sponsor for the event is NSPIRE Bermuda, who will also provide T-shirts, shorts, paddles and balls for all of our youth participants.

Partnering our with local schools, we will introduce Pickleball alongside Yoga practice to students from our rural community. These types of sporting events also expose young people to new skills, sports education, competition and open their minds to new opportunities.

The pic below is our Yoga Meets Mini-tennis Seminar in our neighboring village of Gomoa Fetteh from 10 years ago, sponsored by ENACTUS UK. Our team has a good experience with sports development and we look forward to introducing and developing high-level youth Pickleballers in the future.
